En el Nombre de la Hija was shot on location in Paute and Yunguilla, two valleys of the Southern Ecuadorian Andes, in August 2010.
The main cast was conformed by Ecuadorian children between 6 and 13 years old, most of whom had no previous acting experience. They were selected among 1300 children who attended the casting call.
Pancho Aguirre, who played Jesus in Tania's first feature film, Qué tan Lejos, has an important supporting role in the film, as well as Juana Estrella, an actress with an outstanding career in Ecuadorian theater.
The main crew is largely the same of Qué tan Lejos. Juan Carlos Acevedo, winner of the Macondo Award for Best Art Direction in "Del amor y otros demonios" in 2010, directed the Art Department.
As in Qué tan Lejos, the film was shot in 35mm. The editting and soundtrack process was done in Quito, the Dolby mix in Tauro Digital, Buenos Aires and the color correction in Laboratorios Cinecolor, Argentina.
